Dominguez High School has officially launched its new U.S. Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (MCJROTC) program, and the response from students has been nothing short of extraordinary. In its very first year, more than 80 scholars signed up to participate in the class that’s part of a Career Technical Education (CTE) pathway.

Thirteen Compton High School scholars recently participated in a Pathfinder Day at Sling Aircraft in Torrance, California, gaining an immersive, hands-on introduction to careers in aviation and aerospace. The experience was facilitated by Tomorrow’s Talent, a workforce development organization that connects scholars to real-world career exploration and industry professionals.

Compton Unified School District (CUSD) has recorded remarkable achievements on the most recent administration of the California Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBAC), surpassing previous benchmarks in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics. This year’s preliminary results demonstrate a significant 8-point increase in ELA and a 6.4-point increase in Mathematics.

Congratulations to Bunche Middle School’s Esports team for taking home not one, but two titles recently. Bunche triumphed in the Compton Unified Esports Middle School Rocket League 3v3 Tournament as well as the West Coast League.

The California state test scores are in and Compton Unified School District is ranked first in performance among unified school districts with similar demographic and socio-economic profiles.

A group of 29 Bunche Middle School Newcomer scholars took an inspiring field trip to UCLA recently. This college tour opened up a world of possibilities for these students, ensuring that they see themselves in a future where they attend college.

The final day of the 2024-25 school year was filled with pride, joy, and heartfelt emotion as Compton Unified marked the promotions of scholars from campuses across the district.
